I don’t know about you but our summer is flying by! It seems like every time I look up it is two weeks later than I thought it was! We have so many things to get in before fall and quite frankly, Ricky’s constant trying to make a living is getting in the way of a lot of my big summer plans! Imagine that!
Fourth of July was such fun! A couple of the grandkids spent the night on the third because I promised blueberry pancakes, and oh my, they were yummy! The grandkids and the pancakes! While I was fixing breakfast, we were listening to Pandora Patriotic Country. Every now and then they would have children telling about how much they missed their parents who are serving our great country. A total tearjerker but powerful! What a great reminder of exactly what we were celebrating and what it cost!
Everybody else started showing up and we had them all here for a few hours before some of them had to leave for another party.
I took this while I had them all together.
I missed a lot of pictures because I had this big old fancy camera that I didn’t know how to use. Seriously, for like years. One of my friends, Roxie, is such a voice a reason for me. I am grateful for her. She said, “Kaye, you are not a big camera girl.” or something like that. I argued with her, but then I put my big fancy camera up and got out my “point and shoot.” And you know what, as in the words of what’s his name in Braveheart…FREEDOM!!!!
Seriously. I am going to take a lot more pictures now, as soon as I find my camera card. (who am I kidding, I already ordered a new one)
Food is always such a big part of our times together and Ricky sometimes will come up with these ideas of things he wants to cook. Now seriously, he is not really a cook. I humor him and go along with it. So he had been talking about frying corn dogs for a while. Like three summers or something like that. So I forwarded him Paula Deen’s Mini corn dog recipe. Oh how he studied that thing. So cute! I am so happy he did! They were a hit! And he was so proud.
We are always so grateful that our kids and their kids are close and we are able to gather often. Such a blessing!
I hope you are having lots of summer fun, it will be gone before we know it!
